I had heard a lot about the Platinum Club over the years, so I decided to check it out on a Thursday evening around midnight. The club appears to be a strip club at first glance, but it is really just a middleman for marketing escorts to clients; in Chile prostitution itself is legal, but brothels are illegal. The club is located in the basement of a shopping mall.
We first passed through an alley where GermanBob had claimed to have seen some places that might suit us. As we approached, we could see maybe that they were a bit more trashy than we were hoping for, and then the doors burst open and out poured some of the ugliest high-mileage prostitutes we have ever seen. Uhhhh, no thanks.
The Hotel Sommelier is situated in the very middle of Santiago Centro, on a busy street corner above what is called a gentleman's club. The hotel is relatively good. We had fulsome breakfasts and the WiFi worked properly.
