Halfway houses — also known as sober living homes — are residences that provide a drug and alcohol-free environment for newly sober people. Transitioning to a halfway home is a beneficial step after completing inpatient treatmentor while enrolled in an outpatient treatment program. I am grateful for the experience as well as the staff who provided the tools to help me help myself and others.
Adults and teens who attend our recovery centers are given an opportunity to confront their destructive choices, their self-sabotaging behavior, and their unhealthy views with the love of God and the guidance of Biblical principles. One of the major differences between traditional recovery programs and our centers is our emphasis on Christian values and cultivating a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The benefits of our long-term residential recovery program are many, beginning with how we identify those who participate.

A halfway house provides the perfect bridge between these two worlds.
Although getting through detox and rehabilitation is a personal triumph, facing the realities of the world outside of rehab can be frightening and overwhelming. Sober living homes offer a bridge between the rehab phase and the real world, so teens can continue to practice their coping strategies in a safe, drug-free environment. Research studies indicate that sober living homes can be an effective transition for rehab graduates, giving them a solid foundation for long-term sobriety.
Transitional housing programs play an important part in many communities as they aid people struggling to get back on their feet. Longer term than emergency shelters, some serve homeless populations while others help runaway teens and serve as halfway houses for recently released prisoners as well as those recovering from chemical dependency. Participants in transitional housing programs are given a place to reside while they find a job and develop the life skills required to live independently.
